Bandwidth Billing:

• For billing purposes, bandwidth usage is measured and charged based on the 95th percentile as of the last day of each month.
• Bandwidth is measured using MRTG. Real-time access to MRTG data is available via a Web interface.
• Bandwidth data is captured on the Apvio port or IP address associated with the customer's service.

What's 95th Percentile?

Bandwidth utilization measured as the 95th percentile of sustained traffic, in bits per second (bps), to/from a port or host. The 95th percentile is calculated by taking usage samples every 5 minutes, and at the end of a billing cycle all the 5-minute samples are sorted highest to lowest and the highest 5 percent of the samples are discarded (equivalent to approximately 1.5 days or 36 hours). The highest remaining 5-minute sample is the 95th percentile. See the graphs below for an example.
